Periavā Kāladiyilirundu — literally, “from under the holy feet of the Acharya” — is the latest spiritual book by Sangita Acharya Thiruvaiyaru S R Krishnan, published in 2024 by the acclaimed GIRI Publishers, India.
The book is a memoir of Krishnan’s direct personal interactions with HH Maha-Periavā, Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati — the 68th Shankaracharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham — over more than a decade in the 1950s and 1960s. These were years in which Krishnan trained in the Vedas and scriptures at Sanskrit College, Madras, as part of a program conducted under the auspices of Kanchi Paramācārya, while also presenting compositions of his father, Gāna-Bhūṣaṇam KSR (‘RagaSri’), at the feet of the Acharya alongside his sister Bhooma Narayanan.
Reception
The book was well received in India, and is already in circulation through GIRI’s distribution network. Devotees and disciples of the Maha-Periavā have welcomed it as a personal, first-hand account from someone who spent formative years in His presence.
English translation — forthcoming, 2026
Krishnan is currently working on the English translation of the memoir, intended for release in the third quarter of 2026. The English edition will make these accounts accessible to a global readership of devotees, scholars, and students of the Hindu spiritual traditions outside Tamil-speaking circles.
Other writings in progress
In parallel, Krishnan is working on his corporate and personal/musical memoirs, as well as further spiritual books anticipated for 2026 – 2027 release — God willing. These continue a writing practice that began when Krishnan was twenty, first as a journalist and short-story writer, and later as a spiritual writer whose scholarly articles on musical saints, Bhakti, Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Indian music have been published in souvenirs and journals for decades.
